Pegasus Wins for Third & Final Time against Frivolous Land-use appeal by 1000 Friends of Oregon
Pegasus has prevailed again in the third and final appeal by Friends of Douglas County against Pegasus’s approval. The Oregon Court of Appeals issued an order denying reconsideration of their decision, and affirmed the LUBA decision to uphold Douglas County's approval of Pegasus. Friends did not appeal to the Oregon Supreme Court. Pegasus has won, and now has reaffirmed its land use approval to move forward on our 2,800+ acre Destination Resort, one of the largest on the West Coast. Wins like this are important not only for Pegasus, but for equestrians, the economy, and the future of both. Pegasus is focused on winning the remaining court action (separate from land use approvals) that is currently in the middle of discovery. Pegasus expects to win, but it is unknown how long this remaining action will take (see pinned post on Facebook).
Oregon's land use laws are very important for the protection of agricultural areas and the growth of the equestrian industry. Without these laws, Equestrian venues and the industry in our state would continue to face increasing suburban conversions/conflicts, as has happened across the rest of the West Coast and the country.
Pegasus, with over 2800 acres, has land use approval (entitlements) and is moving forward with 3-5 indoor arenas, numerous outdoor grass/sand arenas, 4 grass polo fields, the first steeplechase and 5-star eventing course on the West Coast, a major on site resort/spa, individual equestrian vacation rentals and so much more.
We are developing what could be the number one show park in North America and a world class destination even if you do not ride in on a horse.
