Crater Lake formed 7,700 years ago as a result of a volcano eruption that collapsed a tall mountain peak. Today, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States, and is known for its pristine beauty.

Douglas County also offers hikes and natural scenery including Watson Falls, Clearwater Falls and Toketee Falls. Watson Falls is a breathtaking 272-foot waterfall, accessible via a short hike. Clearwater Falls is a smaller waterfall at just 29 feet, but is known for its beauty and only requires a 100-foot walk. Toketee Falls stands in the middle at 113 feet and is known for its stunning natural surroundings, and requires a short, easy hike to reach the falls.

Just over one hour away from Pegasus Equestrian Resort & Venue is the picturesque Oregon coast and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is one of the largest stretches of temperate coastal sand dunes in the world.

For those looking to play a round of golf, Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is located just two hours west of the Pegasus Equestrian Resort & Venue site. With six unique courses designed around the natural beauty of the Oregon coastline, Bandon Dunes Golf Resort offers stunning views and challenging game.

Visitors searching for sports action outside the equestrian realm can visit the University of Oregon, located in Eugene just forty-five minutes from the Pegasus Equestrian Resort & Venue site. The university boasts a variety of sports teams, including a nine-time conference winning football team. The University of Oregon is also unique in its ties to the major footwear and athletic clothing brand Nike. Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike, is a University of Oregon alumnus and still plays an active role at the university through donations like a $270 million track and field stadium.

Also located in Eugene is TrackTown USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to hosting premier events and creating a supportive environment for athletes. TrackTown USA has hosted top-level events including the 2016 and 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Track & Field.

Those searching for more equine sport action can pay a visit to Grants Pass Downs, a race track with more than 50 years of racing history located just over an hour south of Pegasus Equestrian Resort & Venue. Grants Pass Downs is committed to horsemen and horses with a focus on health and wellness. Coming soon to Grants Pass Downs is Flying Lark Racino, complete with a gambling area and restaurant. Gamblers can also visit the area casinos including Seven Feathers Casino Resort, owned by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians, or Three Rivers Casino Resort, owned by the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians.
